The world waited for the birth of the royal child of Prince William and Catherine (Kate) Windsor, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Crowds gathered outside the hospital, where the Duchess was admitted to deliver her first born child. There was media frenzy in the immediate vicinity of the hospital, throughout the British Isles and all over the world. The hospital used by the royal family had a team of well trained and competent doctors and nurses who, no doubt, really wanted the privilege of delivering this royal child on 22nd July 2013. It was a boy, called George Alexander Louis, or Prince George of Cambridge, and is heir to the British throne.
No doubt the medical personnel on hand will never forget this day and will remind their children that they were there at this child’s birth. Though many babies were also born that day, they shall probably never be counted by the world as important as this royal child. Gifts of all kinds have been given and promised to the royal child whose parents shall be showered with much praise and adoration with a good deal of scrutiny. The media will closely follow the life and development of this Prince. Conception and delivery are both divine miracles and whether the child is born in a remote place or a royal palace, it is a biological testimony of God’s power and process. But how will this royal baby develop? What effect will he have in the world?
I would like us to think of another royal child whose beginning was very different to that of Prince George but Who has had an effect on the world of an entirely different order of magnitude. This royal child has changed many lives for the better and brought peace to the many people in the world. However his life was very different to that of Prince George. His name is Jesus:
- Prince George was born in affluence Jesus was born in poverty (1).
- Prince George has earthly riches Jesus was rich but made Himself poor (2).
- Prince George was born at a hospital Jesus was born probably in a stable (3).
- Prince George has had V.I.P visits Jesus was visited by shepherds (4) and later by wise men (5).
- Prince George will live in a palace Jesus owned no earthly home (6).
- Prince George got a name two days after birth Jesus was born with a Name (7).
- Prince George will have to go to school Jesus didn’t have compulsory education (8).
- Prince George was born a Prince Jesus was born King (9).
- Prince George probably shall head one Church The Lord Jesus is Head of the Church (10).
- Prince George shall rule in time The Lord Jesus has a permanent kingdom (11).
However Prince George was born with a capacity to think, say and do what is wrong.
- So Prince George was born a sinner (12) but Jesus was born sinless (13, 14).
- Prince George was born to live but Jesus was born to die (15). Jesus came to serve others and to give his life to pay the price for all our sins. (16, 17).
- Prince George, because of his sinful nature and sins, needs a Saviour, Jesus is the Saviour: (18, 19).
- Prince George will grow and generally live within the confines of a palace where the ordinary people and uninvited guests shall not have access to him and in manhood there will be limited access by the public. Jesus was raised in obscurity but was available to humanity in His adulthood (20). Since the Lord Jesus’ death and resurrection He has been available to anyone in the world (21) who will repent of {change their mind about} their sin (22) and trust in, {i.e. totally rely on} Him (23) for the forgiveness of sins (24), receiving everlasting life (25) and a vastly better home in heaven (26, 27).
- Prince George’s life is not guaranteed (28) but all that the Lord Jesus has said (29) and done (30) is.
May Prince George develop well and his parents be given wisdom in bringing him up. May he, and many others, come to trust in Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and so be guaranteed an eternal future in heaven. (31).
