10.1 I admit that I could die suddenly for various reasons but what’s that about the coming of the Lord Jesus?
The Lord Jesus promised His followers that He would come again (10a). No one knows when it will happen and it could be today. There are many indications that it might be soon. At that time true believers in Christ will be caught away to heaven (10b). Unbelievers who have heard the gospel and rejected it will have no more chance to be saved. They will pass into a time of terrible tribulation on earth and eventually into hell itself.
10.2 Are you talking about the end of the world?
No, there are several things that will happen before the end of the world. First, as already mentioned, the Lord Jesus will come and take believers in Himself home to heaven. Then after a period of intense trouble on earth (10c) He will return to set up His kingdom (10d). That kingdom of perfect rule will last for 1,000 years (10e). At the close of that time, the earth as we now know it will come to an end and it will be dissolved by fire (10f). Then will be the last judgment when the Lord Jesus will judge unbelievers and send them, sadly, to their place of everlasting punishment (10g). Then there will be the everlasting state in which there will be new atmospheric and starry heavens and a new earth (10h&i).
