Holy Bible
We believe that the Bible is inspired by God (2 Timothy chapter (ch) 3 verse (v) 16 & 2 Peter ch 1 v 20-21). It is God’s wonderful revelation to the human race and is relevant, authoritative and unchanging. While we would not restrict the reading of the Bible we recommend that two of the easiest books to read about God’s salvation are Mark and John’s Gospels. In them there will probably be some verses that you cannot understand but do not worry about them because there are plenty more that you can understand.
Ultimate Questions
Health, finance, family, the future – life is full of questions. There are deeper questions too. Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? Does life have any purpose? But the ultimate questions are about God. Does He exist? What is He like? Can I know Him and experience His power in my life? And if so, how?
This booklet tackles these vital questions head-on – and answers them simply, clearly and directly.
Evolution: Fact or Fiction
Evolution says that life on earth began by chance in some kind of chemical ‘soup’, and claims that Homo sapiens is the latest product of a vast sequence of species from the first living cell to ape like mammals. What is the evidence for this fascinating scenario? Can we prove that life began in this way? What are the odds against such a thing happening? Has archaeology found clear links between all species without limitation? Can we really show that all life forms owe their distinct existence to random, unplanned, accidental genetic changes? Or is there another explanation …?
Is Anybody Out There?
Ever since humankind has lived upon the Earth we have been teased or tormented by questions? There are every day questions about concerning problems about: marriage, finance, health etc. There are deeper ones about: ‘Why am I here?’; ‘Does life need to have any meaning?; ‘How can I get real satisfaction?’; and ‘What happens to me when I die?’. These eventually lead to deeper questions like: ‘Are we biological accidents living for a blink of time in a vast and vacant cosmos?’; ‘Is there other (and greater) intelligence elsewhere?’ Then comes the ultimate question: Is anybody out there?’ This booklet explores the issues – and points to the answers.
Why believe the Bible?
The Bible is the most reverenced book in the world … and the most vilified. Millions of people turn to it every day to find inspiration and direction for their lives. However for 2,000 years no other book has been so hated, vilified and attacked. Yet for many people the Bible is neither loved nor loathed; it is nothing more than an ancient religious document that raises lots of questions. How can we know that the present text is anything like the original? Is it anything more than folklore? How can such an old book be relevant in the twenty-first century? Has science not taken its place as an explanation of the world and our place in it? Here are the answers.
Earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, fires, famine etc kill millions of people and injure countless others. Every day accidents claim an untold numbers of victims and disease cuts though humankind causing immeasurable weakness, pain and fear. Also ‘man’s inhumanity to man’ brings a terrible toll of suffering. Yet the Bible claims that God is in sole and sovereign control of everything that happens in the entire universe, that He is “compassionate and gracious” and “abounding in love”. Is there a way in which this can hold together? The answer may surprise you ….
Why On Earth Did Jesus Come?
Every year millions of people prepare for one day – Christmas Day. Many of these know that it celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ about 2,000 years ago. Yet for millions of people it is a yearly highlight. So: Who was this Jesus? When He was born? Was there a special purpose in His birth? Is there anything that marks Him out as being different from everyone else in human history? How can His few years have any possible relevance for the 21st century? Why should we bother to find out? This lively booklet strips away the myths and tells the real story and the dynamic truth that over the centuries has revolutionized countless lives for the better.
Jesus: Dead or Alive?
One of the main points on which the credibility of Christianity hangs, is one straightforward question: Did Jesus Christ come back to life after He died and was buried? His character, claims and relevance for today all hinge on this one issue. The consequences are stupendous. If Jesus Christ is now no more than a handful of dust and bones crumbling away somewhere on the outskirts of Jerusalem, the entire Christian faith lies buried with Him. This dynamic publication examines the evidence, assesses the alternatives, unpacks the conspiracy theories and shows why there is only one convincing answer to the question.
Can we be Good without God?
One of the things that distinguishes humankind from every other species on earth is that we have a sense of right and wrong. But why should this be the case? Does our moral sense come from nature? Is it nothing more than a cultural influence? Is personal preference the deciding factor? Have we any right to question another person’s moral choices? Are there consistent guidelines for deciding whether something is good or evil, right or wrong, just or unjust? Beyond these and other related questions lies an even greater one: can we ever find a solid and coherent basis for morality on our own and excluding God?
Where do we go from here?
There is one inescapable question that faces us all. Old or young, rich or poor, healthy or ill, black, white or any other colour, all face this question: Where do we go from here? You are twenty-four hours nearer to the moment of your death than you were at this time yesterday. We invest massive amounts of time, energy, working – and money – into the things we do in this life. Our jobs, homes, families, possessions, plans and pleasures take up every waking hour – yet every one of these things will be snatched away from us by death. What then? To ignore this question is futile. It needs to be faced seriously, sensibly and urgently. This booklet does exactly that. It exposes delusive ideas and points to truths that have a surer foundation than any human views. Above all, it shows how to approach the end of life, not with uncertainty or fear, but with confidence and joy.
Is Your Future Secure?
Security of the family, house, finances, employment and friends is something that we all cherish. However the truth is that we are vulnerable and live in an uncertain and insecure world. So what is wrong with the world? Does God care about the condition of this world? Has He done something about it? What is the answer for human wrong doing? Is faith a fairy tale or firmly based on reality? What happens when the curtain of life falls? Can we know about the future? Is there a foundation of hope in life and death? Can my eternal future be secure?
